Headliners have been announced for a new festival in Lewisham celebrating Global Majority artists.

The Broadway Theatre Catford will see a huge variety of performances by artists of Global Majority backgrounds as part of Lewisham SEEN, from Monday, June 10 until Sunday, June 16.

'Global majority' is a collective term for people of Indigenous, African, Asian, or Latin American descent.

Tippa Irie and Richard Blackwood will be headlining the Kings of UK Comedy – Father’s Day special, while Robbie Gee and Eddie Nestor will conclude the festivities at the SEEN Lewisham festival finale.

This collaboration between the London Borough of Lewisham and Nouveau Riche, an award-winning arts organisation, promises a vibrant week-long showcase of the borough's best talent.

From thought-provoking drama to beautiful musical performances and hilarious comedy, the packed programme caters to all tastes.

Festivalgoers will see Lewisham's emerging talent, spotlighting diverse theatre, dance and music performances - all of which have been supported by grants and mentoring.

All studio theatre tickets are priced at £10 and under, with a free family day on Saturday, June 15.

Ryan Calais-Cameron, Nouveau Riche co-founder and artistic director, said: "Having grown up in Catford, I am thrilled to be able to bring the SEEN festival to Lewisham.

"SEEN Lewisham continues this legacy, empowering communities to share their creativity and tell their stories.

"I am proud that we are continuing this journey."

Cabinet member for culture and communities, Councillor Edison Huynh, said: "SEEN Lewisham is a celebration of what makes Lewisham such a vibrant community: our diversity.

"We want everyone to get involved with SEEN Lewisham and so we have a range of live performances and events as well as a free family day on the Saturday - there truly is something for everyone.

"Look forward to seeing you all there!"
