Barnet Council has agreed to sell Totteridge Library to a property developer based in the British Virgin Islands.
The site is to be sold to Bonshire Investments for more than £1.5 million and a replacement library service will not be provided.
The decision was made at a meeting of the cabinet resources committee last Wednesday, and follows more than two years of uncertainty for residents of Totteridge.
The amenity in Totteridge Lane was closed in April 2004, and after failed attempts to find developers willing to buy the land and reprovide a library service on site, the council opted to sell the building on the open market last July.
